Jane Goodall. Someone many of you may have heard of, or know of her work with Chimpanzees is now working on a book about plants. A book with many stories such as ones in which the effort of people really played an important role in the survival of a species.
She would really like a photo of a Phragmipedium kovachii flower for her book but I cannot help het with that one (mine is actually in bud so that is well planned Is there anyone here who has made such a picture and doesnt mind it to be used in Jane's book and (maybe) in some articles or websites around it? It is important that you made the picture yourself and/or have the full right to 'give' the permission for usage. Please be aware that no money or such can be offered for the use of your photo. The urgent part is that the deadline is the 20th of September. So if you can help please PM me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance. There some beautiful photos of kovachii posted here in the forums, here is one of them http://www.slipperorchidforum.com/fo...light=kovachii
I'm a big fan of Jane Goodall, so I was thrilled that she wanted a photo of the species. You should inform her about slipper orchid forum.

Thanks for the welcome!!
There are ideed some nice photo's of the Kovachi here but sadly there is (was) so little time. The deadline is tomorrow and in this time the photo has to be sent around. I'm not sure if someone else of the institute managed to get a pic. Haha. Well I mentioned the fact that I asked it here to Jane but I doubt if she will be able to come here. Who knows maybe she will have a look but I think she is about the buisiest person I know. Traveling about 300 days a year. I grow some slippers myself. Quite a mixed blend. I used to have a nice collection of Cyps but gave most away as I had not enough time to take care of them anymore. I still have a few nice (and low maintenance) ones. I also do have a Mexipedium. I think nothing unusual in the US but still pretty rare in Europe. With Paphio's a have a few. tigrinum, druryi etc. the ones I really like a lot. Also rothschildianum and callosum but those I like because I have seen those blooming in situ (and that is always something special). But really the big urge to grow orchids myself is not so big as I take care of orchids as job. Regards Rogier |
