Christian,
I forgot to mention that your lights will still come in handy if/when you decide to build a greenhouse. You're going to need use them in the greenhouse during winters when days are short and dark.

Hey Christian!
I feel your pain. Last year, I moved into my apartment in May and A LOT of multiflorals bud blasts, numerous die backs and some plant loss. Almost a year later, they are adjusting just fine. In fact, I have an Aerangis in bud and Paph. Gary Romagna in low sheath right now! So your plants will be fine. |

you have a problem with heat dissipation which can be solved two ways, convectively (blowing hot air out) or conductively (heat transfer though the walls) . You could blast the room with humidity but you will get wet spots which can cause mold although this is manageable. A greenhouse or sunroom works well because it dissipates heat conductively. One solution is creating a membrane ( clear plastic) between the plants and the HPS lights and convectively discharging the hot air. But you must completely seal off the HPS lamps from the rest of the room..otherwise you will lose a lot of humidity. Its what i do and it works great.... of course the flourescents will still give you heat but perhaps separating the HPS lamps will be enough
