Now the 2 of you are going to spark my pursuit! There are a few mail order sources in the U.S. that have offered them. I've tried ordering a couple of times & never recieved - out of stock- they were not able to get them from their supplier. (I think they do that just to get you to order.) If I remember correctly they were calling it a Himalayian blue poppy.

I did not success, but I bought the seed from Thomson & Morgan.

Thanks Hien - I do remember seeing it in their catalog - I took notice to the germination notes - CHALLENGING! I stopped there. Some other mail order catalogs I routinely get is Spring Hill & Van Bourgeon(sp?). I don't think I'd have a spot that it would be happy in, given the cultural requirements. I have PLENTY of dry shade but wet shade.....it's up to mother nature!

I grew mine from seed but at least one local nursery in my area sells them. They are challenging to grow in most areas as they prefer cool temps all summer....not surprising they do so well here! The best ones I've seen were growing in Tromso, Norway, above the Arctic Circle!

I have never tried growing Meconopsis...apparently, for US growers, they are nearly impossible to grow outside of the Pacific Northwest...but I would guess that if they do well in Newfounland, growers in Maine or northern Vermont/NH will do well....I know they can't take summer heat, but I don't know how cold hardy they are. Take care, Eric

They are surprisingly hardy...they survive in Edmonton, Alberta...zone 3b I think!

Very nice flowers (and photos). I haven't tried them yet but as I like both blue flowers and poppies I'll have to give them a chance. I've been given a list by a longtime local gardener that called these plants 'expensive mulch' but maybe I've got the right microclimate in my yard. So many plants to try.
