Newfoundland is at the northern limit for Pink Lady's-slipper and this week they started to open. Despite being the last place in North America for these to bloom they are actually the earliest native orchid to bloom for us. Arethusa bulbosa will be next, in a another week or so. meantime, here are some blooms I took today.

Awesome shots Todd. It is so neat seeing these in flower now - almost July! So I would guess that C. reginae does flower well into July. Have you found C. passerium in your area too?

Reginae is early-mid July. Passerinum does not occur in Newfoundland. Our last orchid to bloom is Spiranthes romanzoffiana in mid-August! We are so late compared to the rest of the northern hemisphere.

Wow!

Still can make some cool acaule hybrids.

Tom, what sort of donuts do you make? Todd, have you found my mind too?

Ah, too far east...do you know if there are any plants still in Quebec?

LOL...I had a good chuckle when I read this. I have to share. Tom we were playing Trivial Pursuit (the Totally 80s Version) last night and one of the questions was "What 5 word phrase did Michael Vale make famous as the ad campaign for Dunkin Donuts?" My sister and I looked at each other and simultaneously screamed "TIME TO MAKE THE DONUTS!" I have to thank you for keeping that answer fresh on my mind. That answer earned us an orange pie piece. We did in fact kick the boy's butt's and win the game!:joy:

Tom, I have no idea if passerinums still exist in Quebec. I've only ever seen them in Alberta.

Ha! That's funny!
One time, someone asked me what "come join us in the sitting space" was.
