Not sure if this is of general interest or not, but I like North American native species. I hope someday to grow Cypripedium guttatu (Alaska Lady's Slipper , red and white) using refrigeration to cool the roots after the manner of disa (shudder) growers.
Some of my Cypripedium acule wintered in the refrigerator. They came out on Valentines day. One is in bloom in the window next to me right now. It is a very transparent blush pink with more deeply colored veining-a pretty thing.
Happy kultur.

Hi Robert! You're right, we sort of left out the Cypripediums didn't we? Well, now they have their own area. I posted a photo of one from my back woods. I'd love to see photos of yours.

The native slippers I find very interesting. Sounds like you've got the growing down! Funny, they seem a bit scary to me, I had it whipped when I was young into me that they were a rare, wild and endangered thing that you didn't touch and certainly never picked. I never imagined until a few years ago that people could grow them!

"Cypripediums..now they have their own area."

Thanks! I do love these, perhaps most of all...but they can break your heart.

We will start doing the photograph thing asap- that is a major undertaking in its own right .

"Sounds like you've got the growing down!"
No. The most I can claim here is a high level of commitment. I would love to hear from anyone else working with natives on any level.

I kind of like it here.
