They made the move yesterday into the newly set-up screen house. I think that the side netting will protect them from burning, but I am watching them very closely today. The weather here is HHHH (horrible, hot, humid, hazy), but the plants seem to be liking it. I bought some "party tubs" which are great for collecting rain water, and dunked all the plants into this water. I'm also following up with MSU fretilizer. Hopefully, they will like it. I imagine that I will have to water more often now that they are outside???

Here are some photos:

Yes, they even have their own chandelier!! (The Martha Stewart influence)

What is neat about this, is that I finally got to see all of my orchids fitting on a growing table, and realized that I had room for MORE!!!!

Looks great and all your plants also look happy! All my slippers are also in the hot humid bright, bright sunroom. I don't like this hot humid weather but if my plants love it, then that is fine with me, anything for them.

I agree that it is anything for the plants!!! But now that the "kids" are out on Summer Vacation, I'm going to put the A/C in really soon. I can't stand this weather, even if the Orchids like it!!!!!.

Yay! The Kids went to Summer Camp!

Wow, they look great, Susan! Lucky plants you have! How much sun do you get there? I love your table! Very classy. Mine is a reallly old lab classroom table I always hated but now I love it. Though, it could be bigger, of course!!

I have our AC set to come on at 76 during the days when I'm home, and 82 when I am at work, but the windows are open (and vent closed) where the plants are so it is 80 or so in their area and my humidity has been great this week! I've really been trying to make up for lost time w/ humidity, per Rick's information.

Very nice Susan!
I would definitely have to agree that you have more room on that table, come to think of it, you have room for another table too

Another table, plus she can also hang plants from the ceiling!

Yes, but don't forget - she has to bring them back inside at some point!
Careful Ms. Susan...CAREFUL!

:poke:
I am just totally jealous! :jealous:

Lots of room, and you can always make more grow space inside during the fall and winter.

Heather, I don't think you can go wrong with a $49.99 Screen House from Christmas Tree Shopps and then getting their table for $49.99 as well. I also bought their "Party Tubs," which are made out of some sort of plastic. I put those tubs out on the deck when I was expecting showers, and got a great bunch of RO. I used it to dunk the plants. We'll see.

Great prices! I do love that table - what are the dimensions? Though I don't think I can fit anything larger in my space it would be good to know.
Thanks!

The screen house I have no safe place for - kids nearby as I live in a townhouse community, and I don't trust them to leave it well enough alone w/ my precious babies.

Thanks for the info...!

I won't know about the sun exposure for a few days. It was overcast here today and the weather was miserable for us humans. I think that the orchids are happy as it as the humidity feels like it is 100%. The table is facing South. There is a bank of trees facing South of the screen house. so I think they are protected. The top of the screen house is canvas and no light will the thru. I just have to watch the sides. I think they will be OK with the screens.

Would be cool if they had a white canvas top so more ambient light came through, but it looks like you got a great bargain there.

Table measures about 70" long by 29" deep. It came in one of their Christmas Tree Shop Boxes, but there was not any assembly involved. It is really a nice table. I like it, as I can water the orchids and the water will run off. The humidity must be crazy here right now!!!!!

Friday night, we had thunderstorms from Hell and I was able to collect a few buckets of rain water. I dunked every plant in it before moving it into the screen house.

I'm starting to like the location and it might be the "spot" where the greenhouse (if I ever get it) will go!!!

Howdy Susan,
Not to nit pick your idea of watering, but do you pour water into seperate bowls or buckets for each plant? Now I know that paphs are pretty unsusceptible(is that a word?) to virus/ disease infection. By dipping all of your plants into a community water pot, the water that touches contaminated plants falls back into your watering tub, and can infect your next dunked plants. Now I am no expert, but I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents there.

I have often thought about getting one of these shade structures for our spring and summer. Thanks for beating me to it. A white top might be a little too bright for paphs if it is in a good direct line of sun. Looks good, and I am jealous of your nice setup.

Oh yeah subliminal message: If you build it...You need more plants....

Susan,
Tadd's right on, I agree completely, I'd pour your water through the pots instead of dunking them, just to be on the safe side. :)
