Hi Guys,
a few more flowering today.
The weather in the UK has finally broken and its raining properly in Cambridge for the first time since March 4th - 2 whole months !
See the colour of the grass in the background of the first photo. Talk about wierd weather and global warming.
It hasn't affected the cyps although one or two seem to be late into growth after the very mild winter.
Cyp Gisela.

This seems to be quite a deep coloured clone of this 'easy' hybrid.
Cyp Hank Small

Flowered with 2 on a spike last year as well. The stem is weak and needs support.
Cyp Gabriele.

Not quite open but the flower is huge compared to the last two.
I hadn't appreciated how much flower size can vary in these hybrids.
Gisela and Hank Small may only be an inch or so across whereas Gabriele may be 4 times that size.
The smallest one I have is x andrewsii which is tiny - the lip is around half an inch across.
If you want large flowers then it seems that you need kentickiense or fasiolatum in the parentage,
Regards,
David
