I have some hardy bananas that I am going to plant outside this year, and if I overwinter them correctly, they will come back. Te bananas for this year are as follows:

Musa Super Dwarf Cavendish
Musa Little Princess (Even smaller super dwarf)
Musa Bordelon
Musa Cheesmani
Musa Cheesmani Var. Pasta
Musa Basjoo
Musella Lasiocarpa
Ensete Ventricosum "Maurelii"There may be more additions *Keyword: May Be* I also have some colocasia bulbs that are sprouting, and some other odds and ends. the gardens are going to be wonderful this year!
I cleaned out the pond, and am hoping that the lotus will sprout this year :fcrossed: ! The daylilies are growing and everything is just wonderful!
grandefan April 22nd, 2007, 04:42 PM Great 'Orinoco' Bloom! I ordered the Dwarf Orinoco,Ice Cream and another Red Abby.YES YOU CAN GROW Banana in your garden. Musa basjoo has come back again this year! I dug a Huge sucker and held it in the GH in a 30 gallon trash can just to be sure but moma made it big time.Also overwintered a huge clump of Colocasia esculenta 'China Pink' in the ground all winter and have a number of other Aroids to plant out.

The day those bananas at your house bloom, you will be jumping for joy! I mean JUMPING! :Party: The only thing is, after they flower, they die. then the suckers take over, and flower. that's the life cycle of a banana!
