Hi everyone. I am considering buying a lamp for supplemental lighting for my paphiopedilums on a windowsill, as there are only few bright days here in winter and luxuriant branchy trees in summer. I do not have any multifloral paphs yet, but may acquire some in the future. I plan to place a 2 feet 28W T5 phyto lamp with a good reflector approximately 10-12 inches from the plants. My question is whether this one bulb will be enough as an additional light source for paphs on a windowsill?
Any advice will be appreciated.

How many plants do you have in your collection are you getting the light for?

I`ve got 7 plants which I will put there when the light is installed. Want to be able to efficiently use the area of 2X1 1/4 feet under the lamp for some more paphs.

That should work but you may want to add more if you decide to add more plants. How much natural light are they getting now?

Paphi, thank you:)
Casey, it`s cloudy with no sunshine most of these winter days.

T5's are generally a fairly potent light source. What you are suggesting would work given that this would not be the only source of light. It would be great for a supplemental source of light like you are describing.

Thank you, guys. I will give it a try, I have ordered the lamp. Hope my plants will "notice" and I`ll be able to see more growth and blooms.
