Here is a fairly new addition to the yard. It is a Lenten rose, also known as Helleborus. I like these because they are the very first thing to come up in the late winter/spring. They come in many different shades of red, pink, green, white, and an interesting brownish color. The flowers are very interesting to see, and the plants bloom all spring and early summer. They also are somewhat inconspicuous, but very interesting! They thrive in full shade to part sun, so they are a great thing to keep on a north facing bed.
