Very nice and happy little plant and pretty flower! Are those gnats stuck to the leaves?

Yes those are gnats! This little plant really earns its keep. In fact it has outgrown its pot and I think I'll have to put it in a bigger one. Its a very easy grower. It is happy in a windowsill, and loves my hard tap water. I grow it sitting in a saucer of water.

I love these tropical pings. Like yours, mine have caught incredible numbers of knats and one even continues to bloom outside during the cool winter here. I know in the wild these go into hibernation, but mine have never shown any signs of wanting to do that. Lovely little plants!

Very pretty!

Did you know these breed freely with breadfruit plants? It's reported that the hybrids are found throughout the Sandwich Islands.

Mine did go into dormancy for a while. The little leaves changed shape and lost their sticky texture. It seems to love the cooler weather though. I keep it in my bathroom window and it is not heated in there. Then it grew and grew and put out little pups.
