I LOVE this plant! It sparked a whole slew of besseae hybrid shopping! :D Thanks for looking!

Oh man, you know it's a slow day on the forum when we're dredging up posts from opening day! Sorry, I'm at work, and TOTALLY bored out of my mind. It is pouring here, yet again!

Anyhow, thanks a bunch Ron!

Old posts are always acceptable for a reprise when of excellant quality.
Besides, many of the early posts may not have been seen by newer members.
I know sometimes it is very time consuming to go that far back and look.

Heather,

I love the way the light shines through the flower. It radiates the pouch as well!

thanks

That's such a lovely flower! Yes, please do post older shots since I just got here. I'm afraid of this species because of its difficulty in cultivation. Also, my water is pretty hard here so I'm afraid I'd just kill it quickly. :(

Tom,
Do you have access to distilled water there? Honestly, I have found the besseaes to sulk a little in my care. I may keep it a little warm for them (I know in the summer that is also an issue for you) and also particularly after re-potting. But they seem to eventually come around, especially if you get a nice strong plant to begin with.

But, this photo and plant is why I now have 14 of them (the 3 varieties)! I just think they are so sweet. I love their small size and the vents in the pouches. I am enjoying watching my first red one open right now, and marvelling at how the color is changing daily.

Will be many more photos upcoming.... stay tuned!

I never realized how small they were until I saw one at the Mass. Orchid show. Then I was hooked and bought one from Sherwood Orchids. Now, I am fighting the inpulse to buy more!!!

Lovely yellow flower & photo, Heather!!!

Please keep dredging!!! :poke:

Heather, your posts are also the reason I've gone and bought another bessae... I've got a little seedling of the red one and on the weekend got a BS of a red x yellow. BTW, what are the three varieties.. sorry to be so braindead.

cheers
