Well, 'cause I think it's a very good book, a very must-to-have in Slippers literature, and 'cause I do not see it in any other posts I'll report it.
I'm talking about "The genus Cypripedium" by Philip Cribb (one of the authors of the "Genera Orchidacearum I), 1997. Edited by Kew Botanical Gardens (Series: Botanical Magazine Monographs). Yes, it is quite an "old" book right now, but is the only serious botanical monography about this woderful genus I know, and it's indeed very updated, considering the progress in Cypripedium knowledge. :p
The book starts with an history and taxonomical delimitation of Cypripedioideæ, than deeply analyzes the Morphology, Ecology, Phylogeny and Biogeography of the genus befor begin to describe the species (with pictures of the anatomy and chorology maps) and the breeding methods.
The text is interruptes by two wonderful series of plates: paintings by various artists and botanist and photos of the plants in nature.
It's a jewel in Orchids literature ! :bowing:
Only the price can deter from the purchase .... well well it costs 105 $ :jawdrop::jawdrop: ... but for me worth it all !!!
