Ooookay, so I unpotted the della (yeah, I know, that's spelled wrong, but that's it's nickname so....yeah, I know, I'm nuts...)
And it fell apart I think it was already apart though the roots seem very very fragile, more so (REALLY) than regular besseae - anyone had experience w/ that?

The old growth has lots of roots, but only one new one growing, and the leaf is rotting. The new in spike growith has a fair number of actively growing roots. I don't know what to do! Should I repot together? Separately? or just ditch the older growth.

Help? THANKS

Hi,
So....I don't mean to seem impatient, but I still haven't potted this up yet in hopes of some great advice from someone. I'm just not sure of the best action to take in this case.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

i would just pot up both individually in seperate pots. the older growth may or may not grow a new growth, but at least it's worth a shot. the worst that could happen is that it won't grow, on the other side of the spectrum, you could get a second division from. if you just throw it out, you only end up with the worst case scenario.

Thank you so much for responding, Lien! I was thinking the same but wasn't sure if it was at all worth it. That last leaf looks like it is going to die back rather fast. Is it possible I may end up w/ a leafless plant for a while? How does that work?

Actually, i've had that happen before, i had a stub and was going to throw it out but didn't because I noticed active roots growing so I just potted it up and stuck it in a corner and forgot about it. A few months later i noticed a nice new growth come out of it. If you've got the space for an extra pot, it's definately worth a shot.

Ok, great! I think I can fit it in, and lord knows, if it IS truly a dallesandroi, someone I know wants a division.

Thanks again, very much!!

*edit* - pulled off the dead bits from the last leaf to die on this growth and lo and behold, those aren't roots? I've got two new growths!

Whew! Thank goodness I didn't just "ditch" it!

Thanks AGAIN!

Yeah I would probably have potted them separately. Good Luck!

Heather,

How is your P. dadallesandroi doing? did the second division make it? Did the bud open (I think you said it was in bud when you got it?)

Lien, Heather sent me that division and the tiny new starts are growing very slowly, so hope it makes it!

Lien, the spike has stalled on me. First bud blasted. Though I detested the mix, etc. I likely might have been better off leaving it well enough alone until after it bloomed. Darn it. Hind sight is 20/20. At any rate, Mine also has two new starts growing. So, hopefully, even if I lose the spike
(not browning yet, just stalled) it is growing anew....

Still...

It's good!
Two new starts are doing very well. Growing fast! :)
Thanks for asking.

One of the 2 starts on mine is growing really fast.
