Hello. I crossed lowii with complex hybrid. The lowii pod seed was sewn a couple weeks ago successfully. The pod on the complex hybrid is still green though. In fact the flower is still in bloom 71/2 months after the cross! Anyway the pod is fat but green. Should I wait until it is brown?

I'm a bit surprised the flower is still in bloom at 7 months. I would wait until it "matures" that is fatten up some more and start to look brown.

I know it's hard to believe the flower is still in bloom 7 months later. It's showing some wear now but still pretty. The link below is the big Paph and my first Henryanum.

The staminode is now totally withered up buy dorsal sepal and petals are in decent shape. I removed the pouch at time of pollination in order to get to the stigmatic surface. Not sure if removing pouch has any effect on flower longevity.

At 7 months I wouldn't worry too much about its longevity. Breeders usually remove the pouch because it is easier access to the parts. Also, that flower is using so much of the plants energy when it could be spending all that energy on making new growths.
