Has anyone tried the granule formula? Suppose to last 6 weeks and feeds with a 12-18-6 fertilizer.

I tried it with some phals that had severe outbreak of spider mites. Sprays would knock them down but they always came back. Not so with the granules and I've seen no harm to the plants after 3 weeks.

I've tried it on one cattleya that I've always suspected to be a carrier of scale. Seems it has worked on it, too. But it's only been 3 weeks and I'm watching and waiting for a longer term result.

The active ingredient is Disulfoton 1 %.

I hope this works since it is an easy fix. No spraying, no taking the orchids outside. Safety precautions should be followed of course.

I dont know about the bayer but if you have spider mites.I would raise the humidity! S.mites don't like humidity .Do your phals bud /bloom or blast ?

I have probably 20 phals in various stages of bloom, from barely spiking to full bloom. So far, no problems with them.

-If you grow some dendrobium nobile hybrids as sacrificious ones, the spider mites will leave the phals alone. It seems that they prefer that to my phals.
-Seriously you should also hang some yellow sticky card. I do not know if it is coincident, but since I put them up, the spider mites population is reduce dramatically (I wonder, whether they float in the air, and stick to the card, bringing down the breeding population)

The granules have worked great! No spider mites! No more damaged leaves ect. I was a little afraid to use it even though the other Rose and Flower products seem safe enough for the orchids.

I'm partial to cattleya's therefore I used it first on the phals. Sorry phal lovers!!! I do like them just not as much as my catts.

What I'm thinking is, Wouldn't it be great to get a new orchid...look it over and if it "looks" clean, sprinkle the granules on and walla! you could put it in the greenhouse instead of having to keep it in isolation somewhere else.

No more spraying or dipping. No more masks or having to wait for a sunny day and one warm enough to take the orchid outside. It'd be great!

This stuff says it lasts for 6 weeks. As long as the plant is actively growing, the roots will absorb the product plus fertilize the plant. What could be easier?

I have so many sprays stored up! One works on this bug but not on another. The other spray works for something else but not what you need it for. Pretty soon, all ya have is bottles and bottles of sprays and no room for orchids!

The catt I'm testing it on had scale. No matter what I did, it kept getting scale. I have to keep it in the sunroom away from my collection because I just can't get rid of those buggers.

But, the scale are dead! I just flick them off! Now, I'm going to wait a while longer and just watch this orchid to see what happens next.

So far, I'm pleased.

Great news! I use this product on my roses...or maybe it is called Bayer "all in one." I think mine also has a fungicide in it. But it is granules and it works very well on my roses. I never thought of trying it on orchids.

This is Bayer Advanced Garden 2-in-1 Systemic. Feeds and Protects.

I need the one with the fungicide in it for my roses. Blackspot is a killer here in Arkansas!

I have used the BAYER spray with good results, someone said at a society meeting not to use the granules because the fertilizer is to strong. Don't know for sure. Jim.

Hmmm, I wonder in what way the fertilizer would be too strong? It's a time released formula. I'd be interesting to know about this.

I used the granules on my phals 3 weeks ago and so far nothing bad has happened even though I forgot they had the fertilizer already in there and I watered them with fertilized water. That was about a week ago. I'll keep a close watch and see what, if anything, happens.

Thanks for the heads up!
