I found this site last year and thought, wow, how cool is that!? Before in vito techniques were created this was the only way to grow hybrid orchids. I'm going to try it with a couple Japanese native species next year (Liparis and Bletilla). My only concern is when I should start fertilizing them. No doubt life on a peice of bark is going to be low in nutrients.

Tried that once with Bletilla. The germinated well, but when they got to the size of the plants at the bottom of their page, I couldn't get the humidity right and they either dessicated or died of fungal attack... In vitro worked better, so I stuck with that :-)
