Just in case you don't know - our member Tadd here volunteers there, so he may be of some help to you also! Sounds like a fun trip!

As an aside - Tadd how close are they to you? Do you have to cross state lines?

Tom Nasser of Carolina Orchids is from Fall River, Mass. He has a very wide variety of genus. He does specialize in bulbos, but he has alot of everything! When you coming down? Maybe I will be there repotting!

I am about 10 minutes from his greenhouse. I barely have to set foot in South Carolina to get there. There is also Marriott Orchids which is about 2 hours north of here. Carter and Holmes (yuck) 2 hours south of here. H.P. Norton (Phrag/phal Grower) 3 hours southeast. Thanks for the headsup Heather(looking out for me!)

Oh, he's from Fall Ree? I didn't know that! I thought now though that they were in S. Carolina, not North. I was checking out their website this morning. For travelling schedules, but couldn't find out where he was speaking. Maybe I'll email him.

Hi Tadd, I am going down on June 21 till the 25 I am not sure what day I can get there . My son lives In Mathews NC and has been there for about a year this will be our first trip down so I am sure he has plans for us. He dosen't grow Orchids but I understand Carowinds Amusment Park is right next to the Nursery so I'll get him to bring me to the Nursery first then take the Grandchildren to the park for the rest of the day. Does he have any large Bulbo Phals? Maybe you can tell me what to look for when I get there. I like Slippers of course but I also like strange looking plants. Hope to see you there. I was going to call the Nursery when I got there to let him know I would be comming . I have already emailed him about a plant he suggested I wait till I get down there and see what he has. I had emailed Dwayne Lowder Of Dowery Orchids we talk from time to time and he said he knows the owners and that they have some interesting plants. Ray

Howdy Ray,
Tom and his wife Shan are great people. He actually does have some decent size bulbo phals. I am not sure of the $. He does have seriously interesting plants. He has alot of pleuros, catts, lycastes, you name it he pretty much should have it. Yeah Carrowinds is quite the amusement park. It will be a fun day for G'pa and G'kids. I am not familar with Dowery Orchids, will have to google them. I'll look to be out around the greenhouses. Hope to see and meet you.

Thanks Tadd - that makes sense - I think NHOS meets next weekend.
Yep, just checked and sure enough! So, is your name really Tadd? Cause if I go, I don't want to be like, "hey, I know this guy Tadd who works for you" and have him look at me like I'm crazed.

I mean I am, but heck, I don't want him to think that!

Perhaps this will be the nudge I needed to get up there and join that society.
