View Full Version : How 'bout we take this to the Phrags?
Paphgirl June 1st, 2005, 06:57 PM So...all time favorite Phragmipedium?
(and for the sake of being obnoxious - no kovachii - none of us really has seen it in person yet so unless you have, stick to the legals, ok? deal?)
For me so far, it is besseae, hands down. I've only had a flava bloom though, so I'm not sure which variety is my favorite yet.
Although it was a little tempting for me to say wallisii. Those long petals are down right spectacular! I tend to develop bias when I see things in person.

(Tadd - in case you did not notice, this would be the Phragmipedium forum....kindly keep your Paphs where they belong! )
Geesh, one track mind or what?
Paphraguy June 1st, 2005, 07:25 PM Mine would have to be caudatum sanderae. Love the long petals and the arching leaves!
TADD June 1st, 2005, 09:47 PM wait you mean to tell me there are other types of slippers and orchids besides paph fairrieanum? :poke: Phrag fairrieanum? :poke:

Bozo June 1st, 2005, 10:27 PM a good DARK warscewiczianum is a sight to behold.
Eric Muehlbauer June 2nd, 2005, 11:05 PM As much as I love the caudatum types, when I finally bloomed a bessea, that won, hands down....I have never seen a phrag to beat it....the form and color were perfect...I have never seen a bloom that vermilion, and I didn't care that it was small. I have not been that impressed by kovachii....it looks like it would be fun, for size alone...but that's it...not a great shape, and I don't care for its color. And of course, no phrag hybrid can even come close to besseae...besides, most phrag haybrids are just more of the same....A complete phrag hybrid collection would have 4 plants...a besseae hybrid, a caudatum-type hybrid, a pink schlimii-type hybrid, and a miscellaneous Sorceror's Apprentice type....Take care, Eric
RickL June 2nd, 2005, 11:08 PM I'm with Bozo on this one.
Dead in a Massachusets swamp.

Okay, Billie, in Photobucket, to post, choose the IMG box, copy it, and then paste it here, as above. See if that works for you. Nice schlimii!

Paphgirl June 3rd, 2005, 10:07 AM Billie, I don't know what is up - I tried to copy and paste your link in a new message and worked fine, but when I put a second link of the same image in your message, it doesn't work. So then I deleted everything in your message and pasted in the new link and it still didn't come up.
You're doing everything right, but for some reason the image tag isn't working. I think you do, but do you have your photobucket account set up to be viewable by others? That's the only thing I can think of that would cause this. Too weird! Sorry I haven't been able to figure it out....
TADD June 3rd, 2005, 08:21 PM Looks good regardless!
bhams June 4th, 2005, 09:37 AM  Thanks Heather and all for your paitence I'll make it right one day what do they say try try again .
