Paphraguy December 21st, 2006, 04:48 PM Very nice collection! What kind of lights are you using?
scooby5757 December 21st, 2006, 04:55 PM 4 ft shop lights. Half are regular cheap bulbs the other half are grow lights.
They're just hung from the shelf above on one of those 4f' x 1.5' easy-assemble shelving units.
Bolero December 21st, 2006, 05:37 PM Great collection of plants, thanks for sharing with us.
Paphraguy December 21st, 2006, 05:46 PM Are you also providing natural light in addition to artificial lighting? Many years ago, I have tried fluorescents without natural light and my plants simply hated it but they loved it instantly when I switched to HPS system. With fluorescents, the plants had to be very close to them but with HPS I have ample room (3ft+ above the plants) to inspect, water and enjoy my plants. You have a few multiflorals and the multifloral Paphs demand very bright light to grow and bloom to their full potential. If your setup works for you and your plants, then that is great!
Slipperguy December 21st, 2006, 06:28 PM Nice plants...
Justin December 21st, 2006, 06:30 PM Great choice of plants! I'd love to see a pic of your set-up!
If you have some extra money (maybe after the holidays) it is easy to find a small 150-175 watt hps or mh grow lamp that will cost the same on your electric bill as 4 tubes of shoplights but provide exponentially greater lumens for your plants. I know my paphs appreciated the change. Just a thought.
Best,
Justin
Saladshooter December 31st, 2006, 06:03 PM Very nice list! The mentawai form of violacea is the typical form, solid star shaped magenta flowers.
scooby5757 October 20th, 2007, 12:33 AM I thought it would be interesting to update this....its been a......productive.....year.

The tiered shelf is when I was living in Philly. In Feb I moved back to Jersey and am in the basement under 400 watt Agrosun Bulb, in plastic. This pic is from back in May-ish. I have added the third bench in the back so they make a U now.

I didn't even include the phrags...or the phals, or bulbos, or the misc others in this list. Last weekend I put the phrags out to enjoy the warm days andi cooler night. They'll have to come in soon, along with the catts, and eventually the cymbidiums; should be fun fitting it all back in.
Paphy57 October 20th, 2007, 04:33 PM Very nice setup!!
