Can't take too much credit for this, I bought it in bud a few weeks ago. But it is pretty darn cool. Picture is looking down onto the plant from above.

I really like this species. I heard the flowers are fragrant, are yours fragrant?

Probably. I was noticing fragrance in the greenhouse last night that I don't normally smell. I didn't try to track it down. I'll have to sniff it tonight.

I dig these and lycastes. The only problem with them is the little barbs on top of the bulbs, when they drop their leaves....OUCH!!! I have had many splinters and cuts form them! Nicely purchased!

Nice thing about being a vendor is that you get there before the riff-raff... *grin* Kind of defeats the purpose, but I sometimes come home with more plants than I leave with.

How big is your plant? I bought one a couple years ago and it's been getting larger each year. It's still in its dormant period and I've got my finger crossed.

It is in a 12" round pot (although it was freshly repotted and has plenty of room to grow). Has four or five spikes. A good sized one, but they can get immense.

When I sniffed the flowers last night there was a definite 'fruity' aroma, although it was not overpowering. It might be more fragrant in the morning (I never get a chance to get out to the greenhouse in the morning). Flowers don't seem to last very long, but they are still cool.
