I'm trying another method to get rid of my mealy bug problem. These pests are my biggest problem and I am finding them impossible to eradicate. Many people recommend using ROGOR mixed with a wetting agent such as white oil. I'm trying to work out how much white oil should I mix with ROGOR. Can anyone help?

Hi David,

I have never used oil to get rid of pesty mealies but the last time I found mealies on my plants, I used water mixed with mild dishwashing liquid and just sprayed the whole plants from top to bottom and it worked for me and my plants, of course :D .

Maybe they are just Australian products? They are both pesticides of sorts. I'm primarily using ROGOR to kill the mealy bugs. The white oil is used to help with the absorption of ROGOR throughout the plant. That is my understanding.

Rogor is a systemic insecticide that is ideal for things like Mealy Bugs.

I have never combined it with anything before so I'm not sure how that would go sorry.

Just be careful using the Rogor as it can be quite harmful to humans if you get it on your skin, breath it in or get it in your eyes.

things like eco- oil are good too and is quiet safe i guy who recomended this to me he mixes a thing called Wet 600 with it this breaks the surface tension of the water which means it stays on the leaves it also lets water drain out of the crown of the plant which prevents rot.
Just a suggestion

I have eco-oil. It doesn't seem to affect mealy bugs. But then I haven't used a wetting agent with it. I think the White Oil does much the same thing as Wet 600.

I have used Confidor on mealy bugs. It kills them when the spray directly touches them. But hasn't killed those mealy bugs hidden away. Confidor is suppose to be systemic as well so may just need a wetting agent.

We have had a lot of infestation with mealy bugs here in Port Macquarie and have discovered that our neighbours palm trees are the hosts for these little devils as well as slugs and cockroaches. I have tried several treatments on my orchids but have found that rogor with eco oil ( 4mm to 5 litres water) has certainly deterred the little beasties. Until I can convince my neighbours to cull their Cocas palms I think that I will have to continue to treat this problem. I use other treatments for the slugs and cockroaches.Best of luck. Wyruna
