Went back to where I saw what I think are Trilliums to take photos. The bugs were terrible but the plants were pretty:

And in for the closeup.. I don't recall them having two colors, but I really like that rasberry color:

But HERE's the MUCH more that I saw! Two huge bull moose in the background. Don't know how much you can see them in the photo, but they were certainly more than I had expected to see!

Wow! What a great bonus! We have moose sightings occasionally down here but I have never been lucky enough to see one.

Those flowers are lovely.

I was amazed the one time I was camping in Canada, how big moose really are. Our first sighting was just a head in the water, we were canoeing. We were heading toward a portage, and the moose was in fron of us, got out of the water and walked down the path about 20 yards in front of us. Huge! Nice photos.

Wow

That trillium is the painted trillium, Trillium undulatum.

It is a nothern species and fairly rare in TN.

Geez you guys have Painted Trilliums up there??
I have searched all over here for those and all I come up with is T. grandifolium which turns a little pinkish when the flower ages. Very nice photos...now I have to find a place that sells them.

I saw a few blue Trilliums or they could have been pink and white ones today here in Maine.

There were tons of them growing and blooming by this creek. Very healthy population. I have no idea whether they are an endangered species here in Maine. I really did like that rasberry color.

You didn't take pics did you, by any chance? Then I could help w/ color, you know.

Nope, it was dark, cloudy and raining. I did have my camera with me but didn't want to ruin it.

I can't recall any blue trilliums, but some species are a nice deep shade of burgundy.
