It's quite a large plant Roy, I am deciding whether to divide or give it another year in that pot........the growths are well out of the pot now so any new growths could well be hanging.........so I may divide it in Spring. I will add you to the list.
;)
barryb May 23rd, 2011, 07:56 AM Very well done.
Could you give us some tips on how you grow this plant?
Bolero May 24th, 2011, 02:51 AM Very well done.

I water 2 to 3 times a week during summer depending on how hot it gets. I fertilise once a week all year round. I do fertilise at a lighter level than I do in summer when it's in active growth.
I grow in a shade house during winter where the temps get as low as freezing and it is also exposed to cold winds. I water once per week in winter and just a splash. So far it's in coconut chips which it actually grows well in but I may change the mix if I decide to repot. It's become quite a large plant for a compact cattleya.
It is under one layer of 70% sandstone coloured shade cloth with a polycarbonate roof.
Really that's as simple as it gets. This plant grows well in extremes.

OpalDragon December 23rd, 2011, 05:56 PM Oh, these are gorgeous...I love the colors!!
Bolero December 23rd, 2011, 06:58 PM Actually, the new growths are hanging out of the pot. I would like to repot it, maybe I will post a photo and people can give some advice on what I can do. It's a large plant for a compact Catt and I think it should be repotted but am nervous as they can go backwards. Also it might flower even better next year if I don't divide it.
Decisions........decisions.
