I've just received the Cyp reginae albolabium and Cyp parviflorum I ordered and they look really great! The thing is, it seems kind of late to be putting them in the ground. The last bunch of Cyps I planted out I did earlier. Now the ground is starting to freeze at least on top. Should I plant them now anyway, doing my usual bed prep or hold them until spring? And if I do hold them, will I need to grow them in pots? How late can they be put in the ground in spring, etc. etc. etc? I wish I'd ordered earlier but it seems as if they held off shipping anyway. Help!

Plant them while you can. They are perfectly hardy, and provided the plants are healthy they will winter over better in the ground than in pots. Just my 2 cents...

Seedlings or mature plants?

Mature, bloomed. Seriously the things look awesome. At least to me. I'm gonna plant them.

Now the forecast is saying warmer. Right now we're looking at 30s but it's going to be 50s and maybe low 60s this week. You'd think that after *mumble mumble* years living in the Midwest I'd know that November can be variable. Heck, I remember going to "the beach" (flannel shirt, jeans) one Thanksgiving weekend when it was 70.

Did I also mention I got a small handful of Habenaria/Pectilius radiata? I'm so looking forward to seeing those bloom on my birthday.

Yeah I hear ya...my plants are sooooo confused. After the drought/heat this Summer everything looks ratty. Now that we have had some rain and cooler temps I noticed this morning that my hyacinths and narcissus are poking out of the ground already. Ummmm, I believe they think it is Spring....

Shady,

Plant away! They will be very happy planted outside. I plant until the ground is frozen solid.
