I know, not a slipper, but I have one recenlty purchased w/ two spikes and one of them has blasted two of the buds on one of the spikes. The other is doing fine. The room it is in is quite warm (around 80 during the day, 62 at night.) However, it arrived in January. Was shipped overnight with heatpacks, but still, could have gotten a little too cold. At any rate, I was wondering if anyone grew it and had any culture advice for me. It is in sphag, and gets indirect morning light. Thanks!

I have lots of trouble with bud-blast on phals indoors. I can bring them in with three of 6 or 8 buds open and several will then blast. It seems to happen to all of them. I'm assuming because it is so dry inside compared to greenhouse conditions...

These days I don't bring them in until they are all open or at least opening.

I don't know what to tell you...I don't have the same trouble with slippers. Maybe that's another reason why we're all here!

SLIPPERS RULE!!!

Thanks, yeah, I have a couple species phals up there also that I've had some trouble with. It is my little warm/humid microclimate up there and yet my bellina spike has been stalled since I got it despite being kept in moist sphag, and now this. Both violacae and bellina have put out leaves well though. My schilleriana also suffered, but has been moved this week to sphag for humidity and seems better since! I have a few masdies up there too which I need to move to the third floor where it is cooler.

I guess I was wondering if buds could blast from heat as well as cold, but maybe it is humidity that's messing with it.
