Paphgirl May 22nd, 2005, 11:28 AM Lovely, equestris is a beautiful species, I think. Thanks for sharing photos of all your great plants with us!
Paphraguy May 22nd, 2005, 11:35 AM Very pretty!
TADD May 22nd, 2005, 03:25 PM Until next year! Enjoy'em I know I did!
Park Bear May 23rd, 2005, 08:18 AM my daughter would love this because of the pink, I may have to get her one for her room.
Picsri May 23rd, 2005, 08:58 AM thank, I do hope to get more flowers next year as well.
RickL May 23rd, 2005, 11:45 AM You may get more this year. The spike on an equestris will extend w/more buds for quite a while after the initial few.
Picsri May 30th, 2005, 07:56 AM last update, one more flower and a keiki....

TADD May 30th, 2005, 08:37 AM I kind of like the naturalness of keikis blooming on the mother plant. I saw a Phal Leudemanniana at Lennette's Orchids, it must have had 8 keikis blooming along with the mother plant last summer it was awesome.
RickL May 30th, 2005, 10:24 AM Yahh that is cool Tadd.
Ed Merkle has a leudmaniani like that too, probably even bigger. He was going to mount it on a plaque big enough for allot of the keikis to attach too.
I also have a big fasciata with a half dozen kekies on it. It should be blooming in the next month.
Paphgirl May 30th, 2005, 10:40 AM I have never seen a keiki in person.
My mom had some phals do it at one point, but it was when I lived in New Mexico.
Picsri May 30th, 2005, 10:45 AM 6 - 8 Keikis on the same plants :o wow.. .. I has only seen one at a tome so far.. Infact this plant is also from a Keiki that I got 2 years ago.. now it has it's own keiki...
RickL May 30th, 2005, 10:48 AM Some phal species keiki like crazy, and some none at all. And they often pass that trait on in hybrids.
Leudmaniani and fasciata are in the keiki crazy category. And they are real easy to grow if you want to give it a try. Leudmanniani also has a beautiful fragrance (not all clones and not always passed on in hybrids).
Gotta run and catch a plane.

Paphgirl May 30th, 2005, 10:51 AM Peter, does your leud. keiki like crazy? Just curious, I know you have one of the nice fragrant clones.
Happy Travelling Rick - it is a beautiful day here finally and the Cyps are in full bloom if you can find a place to hike where you're going to be. :D
Paphraguy May 30th, 2005, 11:19 AM Yes, mine is very fragrant and mine had a couple of keikis but they disappeared last summer! :(
TADD May 30th, 2005, 12:03 PM Disappeared? lol or did they get snagged... My Leudemanniana is fragrant and it keikis alot. I wish it would produce more flowers. I think it needs higher light.
Paphraguy May 30th, 2005, 12:12 PM It was outside last summer, so either the bugs got to them or got stolen, I don't know.
Paphgirl May 30th, 2005, 12:18 PM It was outside last summer, so either the bugs got to them or got stolen, I don't know.
Oh yeah! I remember that now! You were
TADD May 30th, 2005, 05:48 PM hhhmmmm I have had squirrels attack a catt or 2 Looking for stuff in the bottom of the pots. Too bad they disappeared. Blame it on the mailman. :poke:
Paphgirl May 30th, 2005, 05:59 PM :offtopic:
My neighbor's catt er, I mean cat (!!) killed a squirrel a couple weeks ago and he is only about the same size, perhaps smaller! We have yet to start the annual chipmunk serial murdering season. There should be a CSI CATS version....I love it when he leaves just the head for me. Very thoughtful!
