Hi all,

Here is a Cyp that I bought three years ago as a small plant and which is flowering for the first time. I bought it labelled C. calceolus and of course it is not. Do you think it is C. x ventricosum? Or something else? Thank you to let me know your opinion.

Best regards.

It looks like it *could* be Cypripedium x ventricosum, and it does appear to have some calceolus in it, but I'm not terribly sure.

My vote goes for C. x ventricosum, and a nice deep colored one at that! If you look at the slightly elongated lip, the narrow staminode, and wavey petals and dorsal sepal, you can see the C. calceolus influence. That one should be a clumper as well, so keep it happy and you'll eventually have a stunning specimen....can you tell I'm a bit jealous?

Hi all,

Thank you for your answers. It is true that its colour is stunning!

Tom, if you are so jealous, maybe I can send you a cutting in one year or two when it will be bigger. ;)

Regards.
