I'm just starting to collect Hoyas. Love the small little flowers.

So far I've got Hoya mindorensis, Hoya pubicalyx "Pink Silver", Hoya pubicalyx "Royal Hawaiian Purple" and Hoya lacunosa.

The H. pubicalyx smells funny, but the other two are very fragrant. The H. mindorensis smells like grape-flavoured sweets!

I've got pics of two of them.

H. mindorensis - tiny flowers abt 8mm (5/16") across, entire ball 7cm (3")

H. pubicalyx "Pink Silver" - flowers abt 15mm (9/16") across, half ball 9cm (3-9/16")

Planning to get more! :)

They require 50% shade. Very hardy flowering vine. :)

Nice hoyas. I have a cutting of a variegated hoya kerri. It does nothing but sit there. **shrugs** It's been like that for about 6 months and still no activity. Oh well.

Well, I believe the Sweetheart Hoya (H. kerrii) needs a lot of light to flower. Most people collect it for the unique heart-shaped leaves... but the flowers are nice too!

Wow that first one looks like it has ice in it! I'm not sure I want to know what H. pubicalyx smells like!

I get the same comments from others... it's like furry stuff...

Uhm, H. pubicalyx smells like old dried leaves that has been left in the car for too long.... (I think that's the closest description... )

I have three, but I don't know their names. I love their musky-sweet fragrance at night. If I had room, I'd collect a lot more, but they do seem to get very large and orchids have taken over my house.

If you can post pics of the flowers, I could help research and identify your hoyas... :)

WOW, absolutely stunning!!! Back before I was into gardening (only started 6 months back)... my wife had the same hoya... full name's Hoya lanceolata "Bella"... it didn't survive cos she didn't know the care and condition required for the plant. I'd be sure to show her this pic and I'm gonna go look for it! Thanks for sharing!

Teresa,

I couldn't smell anything today. I'll wait for a sunny day to see if any different.

Thanks
