Here is a division of a very vigorous plant of Phrag pearcei. It is blooming for me for the first time and I had to photograph it. It is definately NOT my best effort. I will repost on the next flower.

Are you sure it is a pearcei? It looks like a richteri to me.

I guess it all depends on who you talk to and what taxonomist you want to believe. I got it directly from Bob and Antec and he called it pearcei with certain reservations. All I know is that I like it and it looks good in my collection.

are the petals a true red? the picture looks like it has a little bit of a lavender shading

The color is a bit off. The petals are slightly lighter and not as reds as they appear in this image. I need natural light to better capture the color.
Hopefully it will warm up so I can take it outside and get a better photo.

JW, after last weeks snow storms, I bet it won't get real warm soon. Luckily, here in SW Ohio it did not snow very much.
