Comely Cypripedium pubescens bored with selfing seeks adventurous member of same species to turn over a new leaf and engage in some outcrossing fun. Turn-ons include partial shade, evenly moist humus and quiet times. Turn-offs are herbicides, droughts and mean people. Would like pollen donation or exchange. No strings but willing to share custody of any seedlings that may result from our frolic. Looking to hook up within the next couple of weeks. PM if you're interested.

I'm a Cypripedium moron. Shady, is the pubescens the large or small yellow lady slipper?

Cyp pubescens is the larger although it's not big. I'm pretty sure that's what mine is because I've seen parviflorums and they're smaller and have darker petals. However, I did see a pubescens that had huge (to me) flowers at an area garden center. Not for sale, though. Darn! It seems there's enough variety within and between species to keep lumpers and splitters both happy.
