Paphgirl March 5th, 2005, 10:59 AM Excellent! Thank you!
Pete, do you recall how long the petals ended up this last time?

I think the longest petals were around 22-24 inches. I love this species, actually all the long petalled Phrag species.
Paphgirl May 16th, 2005, 03:56 PM Peter, I totally get now how/why you love this species so much! I remember that really long detailed discussion we had regarding its' color. Do you remember that? I understood SO much more about how you see the world that day.
Anyway, I was surfing around and realized that all the pics I'm seeing of wallisii DO have those indentations at the top of the pouch, so I think mine is normal.
Paphraguy May 16th, 2005, 04:19 PM I don't know what dents you're talking about but my walli flowers never showed any dents on them.
Paphgirl May 16th, 2005, 04:23 PM Not dents, just the pouch is narrower at the top, I didn't know that. I can see it in your pics and Rick's and Avery's and others online, so mine must be normal. I was worried it wasn't normal.

Are you refering to the restriction and flare of the rim of the pouch? If that's what you are refering to, that is one of the keys to separateing out wallisii from the other long petalled phrags.

I don't think so - not the rim, but there is restriction at the top, nearer to the staminoid. You can see it well in the second and third pics in this thread, on the right side of the pouches, near the dorsal. I'm trying to find and crop a pic but I'm having computer issues today...sorry. Working on it. :)
Wendy May 16th, 2005, 06:35 PM My that's pretty. Well grown too. I just picked mine up from an Ecuagenera preorder...can't wait until it blooms. (I got another  besseae as well....)
Park Bear May 17th, 2005, 07:40 AM I don't know how I missed this one, I have a wallisii hybrid at home that is in bloom now I believe in my basement, but sadly I don't have a digital camera yet.
Paphraguy May 17th, 2005, 11:34 AM Thanks, all! This plant is in sheath again! Yip! Yip! :-dance:  :joy:
Paphgirl May 17th, 2005, 01:08 PM Oh really? Already? That's wonderful news, congrats, Dad! :D
Paphraguy June 30th, 2005, 11:47 AM My wallisii is in bloom again with only 2 flowers this time. It was recently in bloom with 3. Petals are still growing. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for posting Peter.
phragmatic June 30th, 2005, 09:03 PM Pete,
I favor the long petals of walisii and yours are amazing (not to mention your photos). I have one plant that i bought with blooms. I took some photos but have not looked at them closely. If I have any decent pics I will post them in the next few days.

Paphraguy June 30th, 2005, 09:26 PM Jon, I have no idea what kind of hosta it is but we have a whole bunch of different ones in the backyard and they keep coming back larger every year.

Gideon, you don't grow any Phrags? If you don't, you should try one. :D I used to hate Phrags a few years ago but now I love them just the same as I love my Paphs!
TADD July 3rd, 2005, 03:29 PM Looks really great Paphraguy! I saw a schlimii x richterii today that was to die for!
Gideon July 3rd, 2005, 03:36 PM I have got a few Schroderae and a Sedenii, but all new acquisitions, some are still pretty small. I will be getting somemore VERY soon.
