I am having two problems with my phrags.

1. On established plants a red-orange stripe about a quarter of an inch wide about an inch or so long appears on the underside of the leaves at the crease or spine of the leaf abouit half-way up the leaf. This gets larger and eventually spreads to the side of the leaf and up and a yellow coloration appears on the top side of the leaf and eventually spreads to the sides of the leaves. Most predominant on growths about 6 or 8 inches high but is also on bigger, established leaves. I rubbed a Qtip on the red-orange stripe to see if anything would rub off. Nothing I could see. Do phrags ever get a mite infestation? Any help?

2 Second problem, on healthy new phrag growths about 6 inches high (on established plants), suddenly over a period of about a week or two, the new growths acquire a sickly yellow color. Main part of plant OK, and the overall root system is fine. Any suggestions?

I use RO water with either Jack's RO orchid fertilizer or the Michigan State formula. Plants are grown in a shaded greenhouse with an evaporator cooler. I have grown many phrags before (even have some awarded), but something has gone wrong this spring. I have tried spraying with Phyton 27 but was told the copper may be bad for the plants. HELP! Not sure how to post pictures on the bboard but can send photos to anyone interested.

Thanks, Chas

Plant has nice roots and overall it doesn't look that bad in the photos. I have no idea what is wrong but I would put it outside where it gets natural air circulation and keep it on the dryer side. I once received a Phrag in that condition and I kept it outside for the summer and it grew back very nice and healthy. Do keep us posted!
