View Full Version : Tavaresia barklyi
Tasha January 10th, 2011, 03:57 PM Hi
another Apocynacea: Tavaresia barklyi.
It is not an easy-to-grow plant, but flowers are lovely, as the smell... :D
Full sun during the summer and a lot of water and fertilizer (the same of pelargoniums): pay attention to watering during the winter (usually, Tavaresias die in winter:().

Hi
The smell is disgusting as for many other Apocynaceae (ex Asclepiadaceae), but the flower has an outstanding texture, like rubber.

That is really very interesting! You have many interesting plants.
skipper January 14th, 2011, 11:26 AM I'm surprised to learn that the flower is stinky because usually these types of plants have fragrant flowers.

Dear Rob
usually the flowers of desertic plants of the ex Asclepiadaceae family (actually Apocynaceae) are smelly to attract flies and other funny animals attracted by the smell of rotten meat: "de gustibus..."
Bye
