Dear friends

could you suggest me the name of nurseries in Europe with a wide range of Phragmipediums? As you know, Phrgas are not popular here: the Old Continent prefers Cattleya, Paphiopedilum, Cymbidium and so on...

Thank you in advance!

I think everywhere Paphs are more popular than the Phrags for whatever reason.

Ya, I know... but, let me say... it sounds strange: I think Phragmipedium is one of the most desiderable orchid of the world: that strange shapes, that unusual colors, strange long fluctuating petals... all seems to be so charming.

By the way, I'm looking for nursery (for a long time) but no notable results yet.

Please, help me...

Try Burnham Nurseries in UK. I've used them many times and found them very good.
There is also Ratcliffe orchids that have quite a large selection I think viaEric Young foundation in Jersey.

Best of luck

Hello,

Franz Glanz and Peter Kopf, both in Germany have quite a lot. Ask for the ones you are looking for, they have more than they listend in their catalogs! Both have online ordering and do mail orders!

Dear Tasha,
I can agree with Herbert.
The nearest nursery with a lot of Phragmipedium is the nursery of Franz Glanz in Unterwössen, 90km south of Munic, directly on the border to Austria.
There you find also a lot of Phrag. besseae and their hybrids.
Around 200 km more north there is the nursery of Mr. Kopf, also an excellent grower of orchids but not so much specialized in Phrags.

Best greetings

Dear Olaf

thank you so much: Herr Glanz has a web-site but... only three or four hybrids or species are available for sale... Why?
A friend of mine told me he has a lot of plants but it sounds strange as the plants for sale are so few

Thank you in advance!

Dear Tasha,
the list in the web is not actual.
Franz Glanz told me that he want actualized his pricelist in the next weeks. Then you can see that he has a lot more hybrids in his nursery.

Dear Lars

I'm looking for pure forms of Phragm. species and... why not... fine hybrids too. :D

Thank you
