Thanks! Last year I tortured this plant trying to figure out how to grow it. It started out as a 12 inch cutting. Now it is about 5 feet tall. They do grow into huge trees though. In Caribbean Mexico they grow all over the place wild. I don't know what I am going to do when mine gets too big to move inside for the winter.

They don't like to get cold, they don't like to get dry, and too much sun combined with dry soil and the leaves will yellow and fall off. But other than looking crappy they don't die. Finally this year I found a spot it liked, and I have to water it every day, sometimes twice a day or it droops. I fertilize it weekly with a very high phosphorus fert. There's a carpenter bee that "guards" it daily and if I wait too long to water he chases me around the yard.

Cool flower. That's not an orchid, is it?

Very nice! Maybe if you put it in a larger pot you would have to water it less...

Nope, not an orchid. I used to see a lot of them in South Florida and yes they do get big.

Hehehe, nope not an orchid! But fragrant and long lasting blooms! James I thought about putting it in a bigger pot, but I think I will wait another year. My father in law has a HUGE one with branches that is in a much smaller pot! The roots are pretty delicate and don't like to dry out all the way, but if they stay too wet they will also rot, so I think they do need to dry out somewhat. I heard that they do not like to grow in clay pots because the roots dry out too fast. So mine is in a black plastic nursery pot that I put inside a clay pot. Hey, that sounds like growing orchids!:D

Way to go Teresa! These are difficult to flower and maintain outside unless you're in zone 9b or better yet 10 or even higher. Yours looks great!
