View Full Version : Question Cold or warm?
newbie December 12th, 2010, 11:35 AM Hello all! I don't know if this question had been asked before or not, is it ok to water my paphs and phrags with cold water out of the tap or should I water with lukewarm water? So far, the plants seem to be doing ok with cold water from the tap. Thanks in advance!

Quaker December 12th, 2010, 11:55 AM I would use luke warm rather than cold. I even warm rainwater with a little hot water which I think adds a little body to the mix.

newbie December 12th, 2010, 02:22 PM Ok thanks guys! I'll mix it with hot water so the water feels warm but not so hot.
Brendan December 12th, 2010, 06:56 PM I would also agree to use lukewarm water or room temperature water than cold water. Not good for the roots and the plant itself.
Paphy57 December 12th, 2010, 07:33 PM I don't think I would use cold water. Warm, room temperature water is what would be best for the plant.
Rocco December 12th, 2010, 10:09 PM I have to chime in with the others warm or lukewarm water is best to water your plants with.
Slipperguy December 13th, 2010, 12:14 AM I use room temperature water.
Bolero December 13th, 2010, 04:09 AM I water straight from the tap. But it depends where you live in the USA and how cold the water comes out. If your water gets really close to freezing then use warmer water.
If you live in Florida I would imagine it would be ok cold out of the tap.
Paphraguy December 14th, 2010, 10:02 AM Use room temperature/warm water.

To my understanding cold water will not hurt them since thats what they endured in nature but I always use slightly warm tap water except in the warmer month ( :

it may not kill the plant but the point of growing a plant in pot culture is to provide {as close to} ideal conditions {as possible}. cold water can shock or otherwise damage plants.
