people can charge what they want, but those days of 10 bucks an inch are over. even the very top sib & outcrosses these days shouldn't cost you that much anymore, unless you shop at the super-premium borderline price-gouger places.

No, I don't find it to be true.

I bought my roth 'Rex' x 'Mont Millais', about 20" at the time, for $90, so considerablely less than $10 per inch, thank heavens!

My roth 'Rex' x 'Sam's Best' was $40 for a 9" plant.

Hope that helps!

now if you can get one in spike for that price, never flowered aka culled, that would be an achievement.

Sam Tsui (Orchid Inn) was selling some of his roth grexes in bud for about that (150 +/-) at the shows this spring. I'd argue good money that many of his latest round of roths will be excellent. He has been line breeding for a couple generations now, and his stud rothschildianums are FCC quality (and several FCC awarded...).

Actually, he was selling a sanderianum in bud for $900... That sounds like a lot, but it is probably a pretty good deal. Prices on those will come down by at least 50% in the next couple years.
