Sedenii

I grow them in an appartment on the 9th floor, with very good natural light, which I think is the main reason for their good health. The cool growing ones spend the winter outside, and I think (hope!) malipoense is starting a sheath, just found it today!

Hi Teresa,

Wow, I'm impressed, you have a very nice list of plants. I think you should add more Phrags to your collection, though. :poke:

Teresa, that's what I keep saying to my babies, please hurry up and bloom!

As for Phrags, I'm waiting for a division of pearcei from a friend, and bessae, schlimii and one of the long petaled ones are already on my wishlist. But the seedlings will grow, and then space will be a problem...
Besides, I also have a few other orchids, mainly Phalaenopsis, and Begonias, my second 'vegetal passion'.
Some day I'll have a greenhouse...

Hi Teresa,

You'll like the Phrags and most Phrags with the exception of the long petaled Phrag species are actually faster growing than Paphs. Phrag pearcei, besseae and schlimii are all beautiful species. I see that you're a species fan, so am I!

Great list... you've almost got the whole Paph collection of species there :)

Not yet... but I'll get there in time eheh (hopefully, it's not that easy to get some species in Europe as it is in the US, though some that you don't have available because of CITES are already in the market here. And then you have all those fantastic crosses I have seen pictures of only in the forum or in US nurseries.... I guess we can never have it all!)

Teresa, you should post some pictures of your begonias in the off topic gallery. I love begonias, but they don't like me! I have killed every begonia I ever owned. :( But I can live vicariously thorugh yours!:D

Sure, I'll do it right now. About begonias, they're really not difficult plants, but two things are very important: adequate light - good indirect light, they can take a bit of direct light but briefly, only in the morning or by the end of the day, mine rarely do; watering, they do need constant humidity but they should dry slightly between waterings. And that's about it for the rhyzomatous type, which are the ones I like. And they're really lovely, I'm a bit of a sucker for pretty leaves, that's one of the reasons I like paphs too...
