View Full Version : Nick Tannaci
lienluu May 10th, 2005, 07:21 AM Hi,
Does anyone know if Nick Tannaci is still breeding/raising/selling Brachys? Nick was always the source for some of the best brachys and at one point I know he had a website, but it seems to be gone.
Is he around still and does anyone have contact info for him?
Thanks

paphman May 12th, 2005, 11:17 AM I am not sure, I have not seen or heard from him in a couple of years.
After his divorce, he sold his collection to Terry at the Orchid Zone where it is still is. He also worked there for a year or so. That was the last time I saw him. I have no idea if he is still active in paph breading or even orchids.
Best Regards,
lienluu May 14th, 2005, 02:35 PM Thanks, Paphman
I had heard the same thing and was not sure if he was still around and still breeding brachys.
I've been looking for some good brachys and am not sure who to go to. I know Hadley Cash has some good brachys, any one else you (or anyone else) could recommend?
Thanks

RickL May 14th, 2005, 05:39 PM SGRATRIX Posts lots of pictures of amazing brachy's on this forum. But I couldn't tell you if he has anything for sale.
lienluu May 14th, 2005, 05:47 PM Thanks. I did notice that SGratrix (a very nice cross by the way) had quite a few photos of brachys.
Also, thank you SGratrix for that link.
I've been looking for very select clones or flasks (or seedlings) from select or awarded parents with the potential for very dark spotted brachys. If anyone has any leads, please let me know :)

zapatito May 15th, 2005, 07:33 AM No, sorry I don't.
TADD May 15th, 2005, 07:41 AM I think SGRATRIX is a female. She used to have wonderful blog/ diary site with tons of photos. She has a few crosses from Marriott Orchids also. With a name like Kate...However my Uncles are Kim and Robin...hhhmmm
Krull-"I pay way too much"-Smith has a real nice Leuchochilum... Only $100 bones for a NBS plant. Very nice though. They also have other brachys.

Tadd, are you thinking of that Pollenatrix site? I had some earlier interaction w/ S'Gratix and think the opposite.

lienluu May 15th, 2005, 07:45 AM Hi TADD,
Thanks, I did see the leuco from Krull's and ordered a couple, but you're right, they're a bit expensive. I generally prefer buying smaller seedlings or compots or flasks. They require longer to grow out, but you get a higher chance of getting a very good specimen.
I used to work with a girl named Charlie, and I once had a boss named Meredith who was a he! So I guess you can never tell sometime!

TADD May 15th, 2005, 07:50 AM No I thought SGRATRIX had a website something like katebooth.com? Orchidsex.com something to that effect. It was similar to the pollenatrix. SGRATRIX will just have to clear this up when he/she reads this ...I think a she...
Tadd (He) :poke:
TADD May 15th, 2005, 07:51 AM Good luck Lien(he)... I wish I could afford a Leuchochilum from them, they are absoluelty georgeous. Maybe I will ask for gift certificates for the next few holiday/events coming up, and eventually purchase one.
paphman May 15th, 2005, 11:34 AM Nick's collection is still at the Orchid Zone as far as I know. Problem is OZ is wholsale only. They used to retail through an outfit called Orchid Magic. There URL is a dead end now????
I'll talk to a retailer who deals with the OZ and see if you can get a copy of their listing.
Good Luck.
lienluu May 15th, 2005, 12:06 PM Paphman,
Thanks for the info! That would be great if you could find a copy of their listing.

would it be inappropriate for me to also ask to see it
(funny how words (plants and descriptions) can make me drool)
