I went home to see my parents who live near the Houston area. My mom has a few plants in her backyard. They live on about an acre of land a stone's throw from the bayou. There are some little trails out by the bayou but unfortunately I didn't get to go on them because torrential rains decided to pour on my parade. But I did get a chance to take some pictures of my mom's patio plants:

Angel Wing Begonia:

Big Yellow Daylily (mom has had these since I was born!)

yup, trumpet vine.
i got roped into a wild plant society up here and on the poster for their plant sale, they had a trumpet vine. nice drawing. the only thing is, although the plant is native to the south eastern (i think) u.s., it's invasive up here.
one cool thing is that the family it's in is Bignoniaceae (say it out loud, it sounds cooool, i promise)
