Hi, I was wanting to know if anyone uses those things that create a mist like dry ice? I don't know the proper name for them, they sit in water and people have them in fountains and it looks like smoke.
Anyways, can these be used to create humidity for orchids?

They are called foggers. They can be purchased from mainland mart. And no they should not generally be used for orchids, except for those that live in cloud forests. Because of the rot they cause.

I use a fogger in my 90 gal. tank , that I used to grow my orchids in , it is on a timer so it comes on 4 times a day while the light are on, to keep the humidity around 60% to 70% I also have a fan going inside all the time for air movement.

Thanks for the replies. I did not know they would cause bud blast, something no one wants.
What about using those nice table top fountains that you can place in the center and your orchids around them. Would these cause bud blast and rot?

I would think as long as mist wasn't involved, that would be fine. My mom, actually has a similar set up. I thought of a fountain at one time, but then devoted more room to the plants and no room for a fountain. Aesthetics...pffftt!!
Seriously though, I don't know really how much it will increase your humidity....probably similar to humidity trays, but that is just a guess.
