I went up into the mountains expecting to find var. parviflorum... but I found var. pubescens. We're in the mountains! Come on! Oh well, it's still a slipper. I'll take it. If you'll look closely, you'll see a few rain splatters here and there... It was POURING!

(I'm normally very anti-flash, but with the rain clouds, I had no choice.)

Excellent plant! I've found v. pubescens to be more common than v. parviflorum in my experience. It is so cool to see these in the wild.

Thanks for braving the rain just to share a shot with us! ;) With the flash it looks like you were out at night on some strange woodland walk.

My thoughts, exactly. Nice photo, also. Hope your camera didn't get too wet.

I went prepared... Rain coat and rain shroud for my pack. However, I wish my camera got wetter than it did... I need an excuse to get a new one! That autofocus is probably the most frustrating thing I've experienced.

I know what you mean. I finally purchased a digital SLR that I can truly set manual focus, shutter speed and aperture. What a joy!
