Guttatum has always been a favorite of mine, I've just never been able to find one and wasn't sure if it gets cold enough here.

adiaphane May 15th, 2006, 07:27 PM Spectacular plants!
Tom Velardi May 16th, 2006, 05:17 AM Jack,
Those Gisela are really nice plants. Guttatum has always been a fantasy plant for me, but I've never lived anywhere cold enough to grow them (even southern NY state was too warm). Really nice plants, thanks for posting shots. Got anymore?
Tom

Guttatum would be great to have - I have not been brave enough since it gets so hot here during the summer.

Shady Character May 17th, 2006, 11:01 AM How cool does it have to stay for guttatum?
Jack May 17th, 2006, 11:15 AM Hello,

Tom Velardi May 27th, 2006, 04:50 PM Hello,
Actually I wanted to dig which ones up with my dealer of these. But he has said I shall take the fingers away.
That's a good one! They are lovely but hardly worth losing your fingers over! Still, you got some lovely ones there. That Ulla Silkens you did get is a very nice form.
Is the white cyp. an Ulla Silkens or Prof. Karl Robinson? I need to get one of those!
I was thinking the same thing Paul. It figures you would love this flower since it is so white!
Tom
phrag guy May 27th, 2006, 07:08 PM Those are all great.
phragfan May 28th, 2006, 08:43 AM Very beautiful. I'm glad you kept your fingers!
Jack June 12th, 2006, 04:33 PM Hello,
I bought this reginae 3 years ago when seedlings.
Of 3 seedlings 2 survived.

Paphraguy June 12th, 2006, 04:39 PM That is absolutely gorgeous, thanks for posting!
Tom Velardi June 12th, 2006, 06:23 PM Well you're never going to see a darker form of reginae, I can tell you that! That is an exceptional color for this species. Did you have a cool spring this year? Usually cool spring temperatures yeild darker flowers with this one.
Nice growing! As we say in the states, "two out of three ain't bad!"
Tom
Slipperguy June 12th, 2006, 07:56 PM Those photos are just awesome. WOW.
phrag guy June 12th, 2006, 08:20 PM I like the color on that one. Mine is opening but not as nice as the colour on yours.
Jack June 13th, 2006, 04:25 AM Hello Tom,
We had a very cold spring. 14 days ago, at night, we still had 2° degrees Celsius.
Who flourished this I dust with himself. Do the descendants become just the same?
Best wishes
Jack
Nynaeve June 13th, 2006, 10:40 AM Gorgeous pouch color! I hope you get many seedlings from this one! :great:
joakim June 13th, 2006, 11:47 AM Hi Jack
Congratulation to great buyings.
It is not so often one gets the Ulla Silkens when it is blooming when buying so one can pick the lovely spotted one You got.
The white one is truely magnificent, maybe not worth losing a finger for but I would cut my nails short if that would help. :)
I hope that some of mine also will be of similar colour. I also hope to have a spotted one and to have one that has much more of the flavum with yellow pouch. That is to much to hope for by just having ten. Who knows maybe I will get lucky to choose one when they are blooming and there pick a lovely colour.
JAck where did You get Your orchids from? You could chose from blooming ones and that is always lovely. It looked as if they had a lot of orchids there. Are You lucky enought to live close by?
Thanks for charing and hope You might get the white one an other time.
Kind regards
Joakim
Jack June 13th, 2006, 12:13 PM Hi Joakim,
I got the Ulla Silkens of Erich Maier a Cypripedien and bog plants specialist. He lives approx. 400 km remotely from me. Here the link to him. http://www.erichmaier.de/frame1.htm
It was worth to me driving the 400 km there and back. Since it is more beautiful if one sees the plants flourishing. One then knows what one has.
Best wishes
Jack
fundulopanchax June 13th, 2006, 12:16 PM Some beautiful reginae! As for some of the others, loss of a finger for a choice plant is not something that should be ruled out without some serious thought! :-)

joakim June 16th, 2006, 03:15 PM Hi Jack
Thanks for the link to Erich Maier. :)
Nice site ( Ron maybe something for Your page to have a link to?)
I bet that was a nice trip :)
I have been tempted to do a similar 400 km (250 miles) to visit Lidafors in Sweden (Svante Malmgrens place of selling) but I have not have the opportunity to do it while the plants are in bloom so then it to long trip.
But when I go I will make sure to bring the camera to see if I can catch some different types of Ulla Silkens and others that might bloom there. Maybe I will also buy somethings when I am there :) :)
Jack June 17th, 2006, 05:10 AM Hello Joakim,
It was a very beautiful trip.
Svante Malmgren is known to me, he is a specialist at the seed of orchids.
Here the link to him http://www.lidaforsgarden.com/Orchids/engelsk.htm
I wish you a lot of fun with your trip.
Ron-NY June 17th, 2006, 08:03 AM I am enjoying these Cyp posts. I will have to try this genera
