I think I found a relatively good one to start with. Mountain Maid Suzanne.
This is hirtzii x besseae. I was told that this one stays compact. Hopefully I will do good with this one. Any input?

Very good choice! I think Heather has a yellow one. Post a pic in the Phrag gallery if you can. :D

Yep, good choice, it was my second Phrag. actuallly, there are photos in the Gallery, I believe. Very easy to grow and bloom, and blooms sequentially for months. I keep mine quite moist in a CHC/Diatomite/perlite/charcoal mix. I'm not sure I'd call it "compact" with a leafspan of 21", mine got ousted to my office. Mine is open w/ two blooms right now. I have found it much nicer this second blooming, the flowers last longer.
It sounds from the 'Suzanne' epithet as though this is from Piping Rock Orchids?
Oh, Does yours have a scent? Mine has a sort of sicky sweet fragrance which is odd because neither parent is fragrant! Go figured!

Very good. It is from Piping Rock. Actually, I'll be picking up in June when glenn comes to silvas for the open house/ potting workshop. I want to see your picture if I can find it.

Dan, can you do me a favor?
When you see Glen and pick up your plant, can you ask him about the fragrance thing? If he's ever had any that were fragrant, and where they (or at least mine) might have gotten that from?
That'd be super, thanks!
