I'm pleased to announce that my small-but-growing Cyp collection seems to have made it through the winter just fine, at least the ones in the ground. Last fall I moved my reginaes farther away from each other (3 plants) and added kentuckiense, parviflorum and Gisela from Hillside. After checking the other day I see that they're all alive and growing. The big surprise was the parviflorum which has two growths and though only 4" tall I can feel a bud! Soon I'll be saying bye-bye to the last bit of lawn in the back garden and hello to more space dedicated to growing Cyps! :D

I truly admire you folks growing Cyps. Someday.....
In the meantime, I learn from all of you! :joy:

It is nearly irresistable to do that, isn't it? Probably not a good idea if you got big stubby fingers like me.
Excellent news Shady. Parviflorum is a really excellent plant and a great producer of flowers each year. Keep 'em happy and growin'!

Growing Cyp's is an excellent use for a back yard - certainly better than mowing the lawn! Congratulations - anything that makes it through the first winter will keep on coming back!

Thank, Ron for pointing me to Hillside. Their plants really were excellent quality--I see that the kentuckiense and parviflorum both have two shoots coming up and now (pinch, pinch, pinch) I can tell that both of the latter have buds.
(For anyone truly concerned about my pinching, I have a very light touch :) )
