Hello, and welcome to the forum!
I am not an expert but it looks a bit more like spider mite damage to me. Have you run a cotton ball along the leaves yet? If so, and if you find red smears on the cotton, then it is a good bet that it is spider mites. How long has it looked like that? If you just got the plant it could be older damage. I have one plant w/ a similar mark but it came to me as such and I've yet to find any mites on it. I know also that often mite damage can lead to fungal infections.
I did have a quick bout w/ mites on one plant last November, and after cleaning with an alcohol soaked cotton pad, a douse with water mixed with alcohol and dishsoap took care of the problem.
Good luck, I look forward to what others have to add to this

Yup, looks like someting attacked that portion of the leaf and damaged it. The problem with this kind of injury is that it may stay as it is or spread thru the entire leaf. I had that same black/brown spot on a leaf that stayed that way for months and then some trigger (plant stress?) made it grow and spread. I always cut off leaves as a last resort but sometimes I hesitate too much and by then its too late.
By the way remember that monster paph philippinense I posted a picture of a while back? I must have overwatered it during our hot/dry spells here that 3 of the mature growths rotted and I had to pull them off. Shame since it was getting to be a nice specimen sized plant too.
I had that plant for three years and just when I thought I had the culture down pat this happens. Anyway just ranting...

Kind of "rusty" looking. Look up plant rust and see what causes it. I can't recall seeing colors like that before. Treatment will probably be some type of disinfectant like physan or hydrogen peroxide.
You didn't mention what kind of plant it is. That might make a difference if your overall culture is off for what ever species it is.

I had something like that about a month ago on 2 leaves.
I guessed it was rust and tried to treat it with physan and cinnamon. After a few days, I noticed the affected area spreading a little and the leaf was getting translucent. And that worried me more.
So I cut off the leaves off about a a half inch below the affected area. I have been watching the other leaves and so far I seem to have kept it from spreading or coming back.
Good luck,
