Got to love that besseae! I swear, that has to be my favorite Phrag. species so far. WOW!!

Thanks for the Susan Fender pic also. All the plants look wonderful, but I really dig that bess. w/ those fatty petals! YUM!!

The besseae was pulled for AOS judging at the last show. But only had one flower open at the time (and a bit of mechanical damage to the flower from the new bud rubbing it in the car...). I suspect if the two flowers were open, it might have gotten an HCC.

Nice Phrag, I really am not a fan of the successive flowering paphs like moquettianum or primulinum, however that is one of the nicest and biggest moquettianums I have ever seen. Very impressive!

I too wouldn't doubt if it would have got an award if it had both flowers...it has extremely good form and substance to it from what I can tell. I hope mine opens to look as good as yours.

WOW ! That moquetteanum is hugh !!! Can you tell us how big it is ??

Fully agreed with Tadd , that one may be the best I'd ever seen ! ( of course , provided that the form didn't change when it is full opened )

I'd like it to open just a bit more, it is a little cupped. My hand is in the picture for reference. I don't have huge hands, but I'd guess that the flower is maybe 4, 4.5".

Moquettianum is not a species I normally grow. I'm used to primulinum and chamberlainianum. So it was quite a pleasant surprize. I don't know how it compares to previously awarded plants. I can do the research. Or I can just take it to judging in a couple of weeks and let somebody else do the research... *grin*

I do have a couple more of these, in spike... And they are even listed on the website. <shameless_plug>GRIN</shameless_plug>
