I hate to say, but I showed to my SO and his words were, "does it stink?"
Funny, it does look as though it should be fragrant!

COOL! I love Stapeliads! Yet another family of plants I need more of, I'm guessing this one has the same "odor".

a lot of stapelias and huernias are fragrant. they're pollinated by flies, like bulbos, so guess what fragrance they exude....
(as a hint, i have a huernia that smells like a cross between rotting flesh and rotting garbage)
