That time of year again, and the pubescens are finally up. It's the same plant in this thread: http://www.slipperorchidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=501&highlight=pubescens and this year it has three growths. Only one growth of the Habenaria lacera is up so far.

Here in Maine, everything is still in hibernation, no signs of spring and still cold at night. I'm not looking forward to summer, I just don't like summer at all!

Very nice! Cyp parvi and Cyp Andrewsii are showing outside. My Cyp pubescens are not showing quite yet except for the potted one. Temps are 15C in the day time now. When my film is finished I'll post some pics. Cyp. formosanum is in bloom and a lot of the potted Cyps have broken dormancy.
I love this time of year.

Greg.

It's looking very nice, Jon! Good progress.

Here in CT most things are out of the ground except for the late species - kentuckiense and reginae. However, I did get some rescue reginae's from MN last weekend. They had been refrigerated since last summer. I planted them on Sunday and several are already putting up stems - I guess they had been in the fridge long enough!

The seedlings will begin to come out of the refrigerator this weekend. There are about 2000 of them so lots of work!

Today all I can see are my pubescens. I potted up my formosanums and my (probably dead) macranthos. Other species and hybirds are still underground and hopefully alive. I'll be checking them twice a day at least.:D

Yeah, where's the flowers, Jon? I'm amazed at how quickly these guys grow. Seems like just the other day I was looking at the green bullets just poking out of the ground and today there's one or two fat buds on all of them! You must have some color by now.....

I forgot to get photos of these today when I was finishing up my camera's CD. I'll get some tomorrow, can't believe I forgot them today.

Ok, sorry for delays...but here they are.

One flower is nearly completely open, and the other two should be open within the week. The plant growing with them is Iris cristata alba, which you can see close up at the bottom. I'll get photos this coming weekend when they are fully open and at their best.

One final update now that it has been completely open for a few days. I really need to clean up and mulch the garden beds...
